ASUS K501 K401 Review

“CAPABLE THIN AND LIGHT MULTIMEDIA NOTEBOOK / BUDGET GAMING LAPTOP”

NOTICE: Asus K401 shares the same as K501

Asus bring thier product the K series as a budget multimedia/ gaming laptop in the market for only under 50,000

This is the Asus K501LB under the k series mainly is aimed as an entry level notebook for consumers but now its a different story

for the case and build quality it is made out of aluminum and plastic which is present on the under belly screen hinge and the screen bezels Making the notebook more premium. color wise its gray black and has a dark blue on the lid overall it is excellent making the notebook sleeker stylish and overall durable in it’s build.

Opening the Lid is a full sized keyboard that can be an option for keyboard backlighting, So far the keys are great with 1.6mm of travel with slight mistypes during fast typing and making word documents except that the keys are cramped and the caps and Num Lock key has no led indication but on the status led there is only a caps led .

Trackpad is smooth and precise in terms of clicks and gestures but responsiveness is
good during daily use.
Lastly The quality of the palm rest is made out of metal / aluminum making it cool and sturdy.

The Asus K501 has a 15.6 inch 1080p matt display that has great viewing angles and good for outdoor use.
Colors is good but not for everyone as they distort from tilting and moving from side to side.
Webcam is a VGA camera with led indicator and mic

So fat it is not great it’s fuzzy and I wish ASUS Bumped the webcam to an HD resolution Despite it’s price range.

So our model has the CORE i5 5200u, NVIDIA GEFORCE 940M 8GB RAM 1TB HDD *NOW Kingston V300 SSD and an 802.11 bgn lan card

performance:
The i5 scored and the GPU scored in cinebench around 263CB and for geekbench for gaming the 940m can play up to medium detail with no vsync and as far as 1080p it is smooth as butter but for some games and productivity the laptop has some thermal throttling when underload whereas the warmest point on the screen hinge where the air blows out but its not too hot on the keyboard and palmrest.

speakers of the notebook is powered by sonic master so far it is great mid tones are excellent and bass is good as loudness goes its cool see for yourself but expect that other laptops are better sounding than the k501
Battery The K501 comes with a 3 cell battery that last for 4-5 or up to 6 hours of daily use brightness to 50% and battery set to balanced and power saver gaming expect only 1.5 hrs so far its not removable so removing it will void your warranty from disassembling the system.
Upgrades for this system ram HDD ssd lancard the fan has two option single or dual fan on the gtx 950m,gtx 960m and 940m (if ordered a dual cooling system part) so far is good it’s fairly quiet and gets a little loud when gaming and on idle.
so in conclusion the Asus k501 is a great laptop under 50k and great for students on the go and with an additional ssd drive up to 950m GPU with a 1080p display is it worth it yes but is it the best? that’s for you to decide the laptop cost around 37990 for my model and the top config will be around 50k pesos for the i7 with gtx 950m for another option for a 512gb ssd and a gtx 960M will be under 50,000 so store lins are here
